Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds - 5/25/19 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs meet in game two of their three game NL Central division set in MLB action from

The Cincinnati Reds will look to win the set and push for a sweep on Sunday after opening the series with a 6-5 win on 

Friday. Yasiel Puig went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs while Eugenio Suarez had a homer and two RBIs. Jesse 

Winker went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBi to round out Cincinnati’s scoring as a team in the win. Joey Votto went 2 for 4 

with a double while Nick Senzel, Tucker Barnhart and Jose Peraza each contributed a base hit in the win. Anthony 

DeSclafani allowed four runs on five hits over 3.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. David Hernandez got the win 

to improve to 1-2 while Raisel Iglesias picked up his 11th save of the year, closing out the 9th. Tyler Mahle will start game two 

and is 1-5 with a 3.51 ERA and 54 strikeouts this season. In his career, Mahle is 2-1 with a 2.41 ERA and 17 strikeouts 

against the Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs will look to rebound after dropping game one on Friday. Kris Bryant went 2 for 5 with a home run and two 

RBIs while Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo each had solo homers. Willson Contreras added a pinch-hit RBI while Jason 

Heyward and Daniel Descalso each had base hits as well in the loss. Kyle Hendricks gave up three runs on six hits while 

striking out nine over six innings of work. Steve Cishek took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year. Yu Darvish will start game two 

and is 2-3 with a 5.06 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. In his career, Darvish is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 31 strikeouts 

against Cincinnati.

Cincinnati is 2-12 in Mahle’s last 14 starts and 19-41 in their last 60 road games while the under is 26-11-2 in their last 39 

games against a team with a winning record. Chicago is 24-11 in their last 35 games overall and 13-6 in their last 19 home

The Cubs have been one of the hotter teams in the majors over the last month, so getting them with a reasonable line is 

tempting, especially at home. However, the fact that we are getting a decent price against Cincinnati, just goes to speak to 

how unreliable Darvish has been this season. Mahle’s record doesn’t do him justice as to how well he’s pitched lately, giving 

up one run or less in three of his last four starts. The Reds are playing solid baseball right now and are worth a look at plus 

money on Saturday.
